SPEEDWAY HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
AREA 31 CAREER CENTER OPEN HOUSE
The Area 31 Career Center Open House will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Ben Davis Career Center @ BDHS. Please enter through Door 17 (Northwest side of BDHS). All 10th & 11th grade students and their parents are welcome to attend to see what the Career Center has to offer. New programs this year include Pharmacy Tech, Advanced Manufacturing, and Aerospace Engineering.
HAITIAN CLOTHING DRIVE
Starting February 1 we will be collecting clothing to donate to Haiti and shelters in the surrounding area. Your can drop your clothes off in your first period class. The class that collects the most will receive a 25% off coupon to Aeropostale. We will stop collecting clothes on February 11. For further information ask your teachers.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Speedway chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority has just announced that they are now accepting applications for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to one Speedway High School Senior. Please check the Guidance web page for the award criteria and instructions on how to apply. Additional Scholarship opportunities have also been posted. See a counselor if you have questions.

RECYCLE...RECYCLE...RECYCLE
All community members can now recycle paper at Speedway High School. SHS will be paid for each ton of paper it generates. Please bring any of the following items to the green and yellow bin located in the rear parking lot to help us earn money and to promote a greener environment for the whole community.
FACT: Each person generates 5 lbs of trash per day. 42% is paper!

Hardcover Books that have had the covers removed
NO CARDBOARD PRODUCTS!
To date, Speedway High School has recycled over 6 tons of paper, saved over 18 cubic yards of landfill space, and saved over 24,000 KWH of energy. Please help us to meet our goal of collecting one ton of paper each month so that our school can earn money and make the community greener.
